crampyyyy

October 25, 2006

sighh.. i hate cramps..
and i just feel that i can’t even do anything.. it’s just so draining.. like, literally. =\ *takes a deeep breath*
i wanna go homeeee…. =\ -cramp-

let’s see, what did i do the past few days…

Monday
Spent a good deal of my afternoon studying.. doing up my project.. stuff like that..
but I watched the Black Dahlia with dear and his mum @ vivocity. yeap! that would be my 2nd time there already. hehez.. and it is STILL as BIG BIG BIG as ever, coz we kinda got lost again.. and i wore heels again. haha! but it was comfy.. so it’s okay.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
3 out of 5 stars. at most, 3.5 stars. it’s a littler disturbing.. and I still can’t piece the show together.. a little confusing as well. and just rather weird.. but josh hartnett is cute. ha! and it’s disturbing that this murder is unsolved.. ok, basically, this show is based on a TRUE murder case, but the rest of the story is fiction.

wanted to watch Death Note, actually. I guess i’ll have to watch it laterz. Yeap yeap.. ^-^

oh, and coincidentally saw Clarence there. haha.. the “half-the-man-i-used-to-be” guy.. haha.. he’s singing at ben & jerry’s every saturday from 9pm till 12am. gotta drop by one day to listen up.. haha. and hopefully get a free ben&jerry’s! ^-^ since it’s so near school.. and i may run outta things to do on saturdays..

Yesterday..
Selamat Hari Raya all my muslim frenz.. =) dropped amylia an sms to wish her at midnite.. haha.. and she misses me. (i’m not surprised). ha! but i miss her too.. gee.. and just abt a week ago i was in this secondary school reminisce.. =\ and also this jc reminisce… it’s so colddd in here.. i find comfort in the warmth of my loved ones, dearie and jc frenz, family and church frenz now.. just love all of ya!

had a project meeting in the morning.. will have a presentation on thursday.. that’s tmr. darn. =
had my lunch and dinner at the chinatown temp. market, just by outram mrt. haha! why both meals there? because the both of us had a craving for the fish head dish, but it would have been too much for just the two of us. SOO… we settled for yam (very nice, the store with the pink signboard), teochew dumpling fishball soup (not too bad), and erm, porridge (avoid it at all cost!). oh oh! and the traditional desserts from the ‘er4 gu1 tang2 shui3′ stall was really good.. =)

So we invited our army for dinner… the army consisted of zheguang and weiliang. well, zheguang’s appetite represented a batallion’s. so i guess it was more than what we could ask for. ^-^ just kidding man.. but we had claypot rice (opens only in the evenings.. really good.. i think it’s “lian he” sth sth) & the fish head thing.. forgot which stall again.. but i’ll know which one once i’m there.. hehe..

-
zg: i drank chocolate just now. shi-ok.. high!… chocolate bar at the esplanade is a good dating place..

we look forward to the day we catch zg there with a girl!

zg: can i eat the eye…
wah the fish jelly.. hiding…
you know at home i will use my hands to eat…

see, told you he was a battalion. =D

it was a darrrnnn good dinner.. hehez.. (ada, really wished you were there.. =\ hope vivo food was good though!) hehe..

liang: janice, what is par value? -holding an investment guru book-
me: errr.. it’s the original price of the share…
liang: so if it sold for $0.50 and is now $2.50, the par value is $0.50 is it?
me: errrrrrrrr… ya i think so.

janice goh sze ting u just LEARNT this… went home and i just had to read up and see what it really is.. or else i can’t sleep. ha.. here it is:
par value: the principal amt of a bond that is repaid at the end of the term.
i will explain this in further detail when i see u again. ha!

it was good singing we had later.. really fun.. it drove my head-throbbing headache away.. ha.. it was quite bad, there and then i tot i had a tumour. lol.. hmm, i never had a migraine.. i think it really was migraine.. since WHEN did i have migraine. old age? lol… hope i don’t geddit again..

Today
in school now.. it’s about 40 more mins till my finance lesson.. geez.. hate cramps hate cramps.. i just wanna go home (michael buble’s song plays at the back of my head). it’s a rainy, damp, crampy, dark gloomy noon.. work is looming..

1) how in the world am i going to find out how highlighters work?? even WIKI doesn’t have it.. 2) i haven’t started on my mpw term paper. 3) finance proj. how?? 4) TWC biz plan.. urggh. 5) marketing plan how.. 6) mpw rob parson case study.. 7,8,9) exams exams.. study for exams… 10) i need to write them all out, it acts as a checklist for me.. at least i know that i gotta get my butt moving..

i can’t wait till friday.. we’ll be watching a dvd we borrowed from Video Ezy.. =) and we’ll have apple pie ice cream from Island Creamery too ok? ^-^

Island Creamery’s Apple Pie Ice Cream is sooo goooddd.. must try! they have all the weird and funny flavours, but put together, they taste really good. they even had local flavours like Pulot Hitam, Pineapple, Teh Tarik, or even international tastes like Strawberry Sake, Apple Pie, the usual cookies & cream.. and just so so much more. gotta check it out!

2 branches:

Island Creamery
10 Jalan Serene,
Serene Centre
#01-05
Tel: 6468-8859 at serene centre (bt timah there) and great world city B1, cold storage there. =)

*my stomach’s growling now. it’s because i haven’t had lunch yet.. =| *

gonna grab a bite b4 lessons start..

the day i killed…

October 20, 2006

I Killed A baby Cockroach
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It was not a pleasant sight
In fact it was a fright
It scurrying across I saw
from the gully trap hole on the floor
My location was not very convenient
I was in the toilet (i’m not asking for your opinion)
All I could reach for was the bidet
And the bottle of soap beside the door
I learnt that cockroaches could skitter on water
Don’t ever think you can drown one
This left me at a spot, and I won’t leave it there for another encounter
I had to KILL it this time so it can’t run

Sprayed water at it
Skitter, Skitter, Skitter
Skitter towards the wall
Sprayed it down
Skitter towards the sink pipe
Sprayed it down again
Skitter towards me
Srayed it away again
No Toilet Paper on the roll!
Stuck in an awkward position
Can’t get ‘comfortable’ again for fear of its escape
What to do?

USE SOAP! that’s my suggestion
Coz it will end that creature’s term
I grabbed the hand soap by the sink
And squirt a handful of it over the creature without a think

The legs tweaked slowly under the pink lotion
And the creature the size of my thumb-nail
Made no motion
A sigh of relief.. Alas, a victory!
And hence, my tale. =)

On a cleaner note..

I’m done with another presentation! Yea! Slowly, one by one, janice, baby steps.. you can do it! You’ve only got 1 term paper, 1 biz plan, 1 marketing plan, 2 Case Studies, presentations and 3 final exam papers to go!!!!! -hehe-

i love heels..
but that little square heel pad on my shoes always wear out.. or slant-out. i must find one day to collect all the heels and bring them to the cobbler’s to replace all of them! ^-^ i have a love hate relationship with heels.. is it just me, that I have such sensitive feet, painful toes.. broken skin… bahh… VNC’s shoes are really pretty..

yesterday…
had one of my longest days.. was in school from 12 till 7pm.. mpw lesson was nice, we talked about how a rewards system might be flawed and bring about undesirable behaviour from a manager’s point of view.. funny how these writers, can put into words the complexity of the human thought, reaction, and all the chemical nuances in your brain that makes us behave the way we do.

marketing was alright too.. but i realised that i had made 5 mistakes in a recent test, of which 1 is a CARELESS mistake. i hate careless mistakes.. it’s just so frustrating that I could read “choose the RIGHT one” instead of “choose the WRONG one”. Urgggh… most pple think that I’d be one of those ‘irritating bugger muggers who complain about getting 20/25 for a test”. but seriously, it’s so competitive that 20/25 is nothing if everyone is getting 23 or 24 marks. I mean, I’ve done a sorta ‘reflection’ and i know its because I didn’t start reading up earlier.. but given all the projects and meetings I had.. I just couldn’t spend the in-between 1hr or 1/2 hr reading the textbook.. because I might not even have the book on hand! it’s so huge and heavy.. and i wouldn’t have expected the ‘free time’ anyway. unlike jc days, when everything was iin handouts. and i could just slip a chapter or two’s notes into my file ‘just in case’. gee.. i should find out a way to fix this problem.. =\ how how how..

i’d rather not talk abt the meeting from 5 to 630pm yesterday.

Today
The presentation this morning went quite well.. the Q&A session was a high-strung debate.. that involved one person, with himself. LOL. i have no qualms about the PERSON.. but seriously, we were just arguing based on a different set of assumptions, that gave rise to differnet opinion. but to start off with, his understanding of a monopoly structure was already flawed to begin with. bahh.. but at least we got the understanding of the prof and the class.. but it was really cute when faces started to go -.- or =| or >8|. haha.. u know one of the arguments or debates that just go on and on, and off and off the tangent? yea. we had exactly that.

went to his place for lunch… hakka style fried bee tai mak was delicious! Yumyum… ^-^ and went down to nus to crash his lecture with him.. kekeke.. in fact, right NOW, as I’m writing, i’m seated in the lecture theatre. it’s been a long time since i’ve sat in a lecture theatre.. given SMU’s seminar style learning, where the class could only go up to abt a max. of 40 people. hehe.. the sound system here is BOSE lehhhhh.. dont’ pray pray.. (tsk, that’s where all the $$$ is going — to hear your prof’s voice more crystal clearly. -.-) on the topic of wage, labour.. yada yada.. i’m amazed at how much i still remember what this is all about.. =P i still remember how this topic was predicted to come out for the A’s and i banked on this topic.. in the end, it didn’t turn out. maybe someone younger than me, can tell me whether it has come out or not. if it hasn’t so far, most prolly it will this year (lol! don’t tk my word for it)
but i’m definitely essay ready.. far from it. =P

i’m looking forward to church music practice tmr.. playing the keyboard.. and eve & cheryl are gonna lead! it’s really exciting.. haha. and i can’t wait for tmr.. well, in the midst of this ’studying’ and ’school stuff’, i really see it as a form or stress-relief.. and jamming.. really good stuff. =)

Def Leppard – Two Steps Behind

October 18, 2006

Def Leppard – Two Steps Behind

Yet another song I like.. why am I suddenly posting all these song? because the booth set up in school is playing all these songs, which I have heard over the radio or along the streets, and like them very much.. =) just thought I’d share them with ya.. it’s just the accoustics, and the way they just put the songs together.. i know the lyrics of most of such songs are rather dubious, but i appreciate the music.. =) enjoy!

Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars

October 18, 2006

Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars

Snow Patrol’s hit song, Chasing Cars.. featured on Grey’s Anatomy.. it’s a good show, really. though I’ve only watched the first few episodes.. but it’s one of those bittersweet shows, that is a beautiful mix of sorrow, love, awe, respect, disbelief… now i really feel like getting the video to watch it.. hehe..

Crescent Nostalgia…

October 16, 2006

i’m seated in my school library, in one of the individual studying ‘pigeon’ holes, where u face the 3 ‘walls’. The colour of the wood is warm brown, as if a layer of chocolate has been smeared across these pine tree grains…

the studying mood has settled and slipped in.. which usually comes with the sleepy afternoon after-lunch mood.. just received a call from mum, will be outta this place in 1/2 hours time.. good news…

tension.. when meetings have to go round unnecessary rounds before a conclusion is finally reached… when people are placed to test me, and hopefully make me a better person… when time is ticking and when you have a mid-term paper tmr…

i read Ethel’s blog.. it just churned up so much nostalgia hearing abt her speak of the sec4 grad. thing.. forgot what it’s called even..
Photobucket - Video and Image HostingPhotobucket - Video and Image Hosting

nostalgia.. waking up at 6am to go to school, first thing you enter is the green school gate… when the classroom lights are turned on by the first person who reaches the class.. when the dawn painted sky always promised a new day of laughter, friendship, and knowledge… when pple lose the keys to their desk padlocks and all their textbooks for the day are inside.. when we sat in rows of 2 across the classroom.. how my frenz sang towards the fan, fascinated by the ‘vibrato’ it churns out..

How she had to use the flex-curve and put it round her head, thinking it is a head-microphone, having her personal concert in class, just miming and mouthing the lyrics…

How hitler dances always tickled her, and scissor-chasing struck fear upon her.. when we would paint our own Germany flags during the world cup, and swoon over Miroslav Klose… oh, and not to forget, the FIRST time we sat beside each other on the 111 bus, and we broke ice by asking ‘have you done ur h/w’ (?!??!?!?!?!?) …. and we now think that it was the most nerdish thing to do…

How we fasted together and prayed the prayer of Jabez… how we built each other up in christian sisterly love.. how we resented staying back during recess to waste our time cleaning the classroom till our form teacher was satisfied…

How I always looked you up for breakfast at the canteen, sit by the red bench with the umbrella, eating hot-dog puff & icemilo…

How we always complained about how slow the vegetarian stall uncle was.. but nevertheless waited for our much coveted half-cooked runny sunshine egg, whom we would kill anyone who poked the yolk before we did…

And how we loved to put so much chilli paste into our noodles soup.. or how we’d order “noodles soup without noodles” and get stares…

When neopets were cool.

How we sat beside each other, and you counted down to Christmas with me..
How “the right kind of wrong” was your theme song for very appropriate reasons..

How we stayed back for basketball sessions, skipped recess and even stayed after school.. 4g3 vs 3g3… that was reallly fun…

How the sea of yellow and blue (some say green) filled the parade square.. and how we were the only batch who wore the (limited edition) green PE shorts whereas everyone else wore black during mass runs.. how we dreaded mass runs… and how can I forget our mass line dance…. watermelon crawl.. and the 3 in a row horse dance thing.. and miss how our tummies ached when we laughed so hard….

Our first detention in school.. which we enjoyed immensely.. how we used the whole roll of toilet paper to slide across the window sill to clean it…

The times we went over to your house to cook lunch.. with the limited crockery your kitchen had.. and it still tasted good..

How heavy my euphonium weighed.. (with the case, 14kg man..).. and our rendition of Happy Birthday for our conductress, to the tune of Applachian Overture.. boy was that traumatic for her… How Livin La Vida Loca was the 1st music piece we played, standing at the corner of the hall.. and how disturbing it was to us.. lol

How we got caught in school uniform in the arcade.. and got punished for not greeting the teacher who saw us, instead of being in the arcade in school uniform itself… how we stood at outside the teacher’s room to greet every teacher that walked pass to atone for our mistakes.. hilarious..

How Bronte was the ugliest green we had ever seen, not to forget the stocking socks we had to wear..

How our skits always got through the auditions.. be it chinese new yr or teachers’ day.. and how Cinderella and Cinderella had to do with Cai Shen Ye…
How we resented staying back during recess just to clean the classroom until our form teacher was satisfied..

How I felt when I heard my name being announced.. and how all of you stood up and cheered for me when I got up to receive the Best Improvement Award.. (which I doubt I’ll get again, EVER.)

How the two of us got lost on our FIRST day in school, and we actually got worried..

Every single event above represents a Crescentian and dear friend who has left her footprint in my heart..

I miss you all so so much…

phew.. and the week is over so quickly..

i love birthdays…
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
had mine yesterday, and it was really really nice! went to eat Beef Ball King’s beef balls.. it’s really THE best beef balls I have ever eaten in my entire life… it has just moved to Evans Rd, where the current NUS Law faculty is at now… And the shop owner was so happy to see us, that he treated us to beef stew too!
Right, I forgot to say who was there! There was Ada, Zheguang, Alec, and of course, Brian! Had a really simple fare, but really delightful birthday cake cutting session.. and the cake was really really good! It’s chocolat-ey, and from Sweet Secrets, think it’s called the Concorde. This cake flavour has been in the market for more than 10 years now, coz I remember seeing it when I was in primary school… so impressed by the choclate shaving rolls and the icing sugar over it.. always reminded me of winter~ =)

So.. there was the birthday song, the pictures taking, the eating of the cake, the eating of the BEEF BALLS (yummmyyy)… As zheguang puts it, it’s not just the beef balls, it’s the memories! Haha.. ditto that! =)

And I so totally lurrrve my birthday present from my darling.. It’s this much coveted Esprit denim jacket that I saw one day! I was so attracted to it, I tried it on immediately, and walked around the Esprit shop (well fine, half of the shop) in it! Haha.. til I had to reluctantly put it back on the rack… -.- But it was such a pleasant shock to see it sitting on my lap when I opened it yesterday!! Thanks dearieeeee!! You’re simply THE best! *hee* =D

Went down to VivoCity, and it’s HU-HU-HUGGEEEEEEEE!! Ladies, please wear comfortable footwear if you ever attempt to roam the lanes of VivoCity.. trust me, you’ll get lost, and a comfy pair of heels will definitely be an advantage! Ha! But seriously, the labels are so expensive that it’ll burn a hole in my pocket.. it’s more of a window-shoppers’ paradise.. at least for me. Ha!

Wanted to watch WTC with my Gold Class GV vouchers, but the rigid guy over at the GV counter:
“I’m sorry, it says here, only for GV Grand Gold Class movies…”
me: “Yeap I understand, but GV VivoCity wasn’t built yet then right…”
“errr….. I’m sorry.. “
me thinks: oh forget it la… so rigid one..
me says: “it’s alright, thanks.”

So there goes my chance of watching a movie with Gold Class seats! I guess I’ll just have to wait for another time then~

Proceeded to our usual haunt (chevrons was also unavailable for several reasons) —- West Coast MacDonald’s! Yeap yeap.. we were terribly thirsty and had a large lemon lime and ice milo for ourselves…

Shared an Oreo Romeo Cheesecake from McCafe… =) Said it was my birthday cake too… =) Had loads of cake this whole week… Including the Crunchy Chocolate from Emicakes today… a Choc full of cakes!

Today… we all had DG at jeremy’s place.. and a little celebration for the October babies…. the girls got me a really pretty pair of high heels.. (ugene, observe the speeeelling). really lurve it so much! thanks darlings.. so so much…

Learnt about how we should cope with anxiety today during DG.. and a bring home verse is Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

just as i fumble upon the pages of my textbook, alas, the mid-term break is about to come to an end… and I just realised that I have practically spent this whole week with everything except studying for my mid term quiz this tuesday… and all the projects and reports are due sometime in this week or the next…. :: true enough, anxiety is coming over me, but I have decided to apply what I have learnt today, and to bring everything at God’s feet, that in Him, I know that i’m victorious and not a victim…. ::

Thanks BX for leading the DG discussion today… and thanks Eugene for leading worship in songs today too… Today’s DG helped me reflect on how my attitude towards my workload… :: Anxiety is a natural response to stress, but whether to continue in that attitude of anxiety is a choice. :: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 :: “Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” Proverbs 12:25 ::

had to leave the bbq party today early, hope it went really nice for you guyz… =

gotta get back to study… and so is the life of a singaporean kid.. =

Finally!

October 11, 2006

At long last I have finally managed to design and personalise my blog! And I’ve learnt a handful of basic html skills too!! Please give me your comments on interesting things I can do to this blog of mine.. =P
Just had 2 meetings in school today – Finance & TWC. Though we did get things done by the end of the meeting, the amount of time spent on the meeting just doesn’t justify the answers. Why should it be so? –It’s because all the work still has to be allocated and done individually, no matter what. Urgh, just so frustrating, these things.

Got back my results for Finance mid term – 25/35. Noo…. it’s even below the class average. WHY?
I studied for it.. even did the whole textbook questions.. I’m seriously in this “think I know but in fact, I don’t” syndrome! This time, no tuition teacher to clarify with man.. HA! Have yet to take a look at the errors I made, sometime next week I guess. I MUST nib the problem in the ARSE!
============================
Finance meeting today:
Tracy: Which school are you from?
Me: SAJC
Doreen: oh ya.. you’ve got the SA look…
Me: what SA look? In fact, last yr quite a few pple thought i was from vjc la!
Doreen: eh.. you also have the VJ look…
=.=”
learnt the song ‘Carol of the Bells’ today, thanks to Tracy!

TWC meeting today:

“Ok, see ya nxt monday then. bye!”

My First Blog

October 10, 2006

As you can all see, I am not really up-to-date about such things.. used to be one of those people who thought that blogging was only for people who have alot of time on their hand to do.. well, i guess i will have to take back my words.
I may not write often, but I certainly would like to share with people, espcially those I don’t see everyday, about the beautiful sights and sounds I experience each day, the events I witness, my views, my emotions, my ambitions, my thoughts, and what I cherish. As you can see by now, this blog is about me – the superwoman I wanna be… =)
I’m now going to personalise my blog.. so till then, do drop by again and look through this window into my life..
peace out.
